Tacony is excited to announce its search for a Machine Operator at our West Chicago location. The CNC Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating the CNC machinery to produce high quality parts along with maintaining and troubleshooting any issues with the machine.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate one or more different types of computer numeric controlled (CNC) production equipment.
  • Utilize programs to operate machine efficiently to include loading parts and manipulating files as needed.
  • Read drawings and use calipers and simple gauging to check the part dimensions.
  • Change tools and recognize when tools are not cutting properly.
  • Provide routine maintenance of the equipment.
  • Drive a pallet jack to move materials throughout facility.
  • Cross train and learn operations of the production.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.


  • High school diploma required
  • Formal vocational 2 year degree in CNC machining or similar technical field preferred
  • At least 2 years’ experience running and programming CNC routers, CNC Point to Point Drilling machines or other CNC machining operations preferred
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Must be able to read drawings/blueprints and use simple gaging such as a tape rule, dial calipers, and pin gauges
  • Must be able to drive a forklift and be capable of becoming licensed to drive a forklift
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in work
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment
  • Professional demeanor handling changes in an appropriate manner
  • Must have the ability to perform high school level math, work in decimals and in metric, fractional and English measurement units
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude, team spirit, cooperation and a willingness to learn

Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Exposed to a normal manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel or crouch for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • May be exposed to mechanical or electrical hazards, therefore personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, pull, walk, stretch, reach or lift over head
