POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for setup and operating CNC or manual machines (see below), ensuring that quality plans are followed, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed, ensuring that established production rates are met.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: None

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Support and maintain all policies of the company including but not limited to ISO Standards, Health and Safety Requirements, Continuous Improvement as well as standard work procedures.
  • Follow the quality control plans.
  • Setup and Operate CNC or Manual machines in manufacturing environment.
    • Sets up and operates tools according to work instructions and engineering/quality control plans.
    • Studies blueprints, work orders, and other specifications to ensure the proper setup sequence is followed.
    • Selects, places, and secures tools.
    • Places and secures workpieces in proper machine table, holding device, or other appropriate surface using clamps and wrenches.
    • Prepares fixtures and feeding devices, starts machine, and engages feed.
    • Observes each machine to verify quality performance.
    • Verifies measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers are in proper working order.
    • Sets and adjusts necessary controls to regulate machines.
  • Complete required paperwork
  • Achieve established production rates.
  • Keep area neat and clean.
  • All other duties assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty and responsibility. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

  • Single lifts of up to 35 lbs. and team lifts of up to 70 lbs.
  • Pushing and pulling loads
  • Standing for the full shift (except for breaks and lunch)
  • Bending at the waist and legs
  • Two handed dexterities for HMI and parts manipulation
  • Eyesight needed to read gauges and screens.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

 

  • Industrial Facility – Fans provided in summertime, but not climate controlled. Heat provided in wintertime, but facility still subject to temperature variation.
  • Noisy work environment: ear plugs are available throughout facility for everyone.
  • Smoke/haze due to machines operating, have floor fans and smog hogs throughout facility.
  • Machines may spray coolant or chips of material; safety glasses are always to be worn.
  • Steel-toed (or equivalent) protective footwear required in manufacturing areas.

  • Initiate requests for non-conforming material review and disposition.
  • Initiate requests for corrective or preventive actions.
  • Stop performing any work that is not in compliance with all product and quality system requirements until the non-compliance is resolved.
