JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Inspector will perform inspections of finished products to ensure all products meet quality standards.

 REPORTING TO

Quality Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Communicate with vendors on quality issues
  • Provide support with PPAP requirements.
  • Generate capability studies SPC, PPK, Cpk.  Prepare and submit reports to the quality manager as required.
  • Maintain non-conforming location & log
  • Approve or reject materials with respect to quality standards and record supplier performance.
  • Select samples and check them using appropriate methods (measuring dimensions, testing functionality, comparing to specifications etc.)
  • Inspect procedures to ensure they are efficient and comply with safety standards
  • Read blueprints and instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for the product and supplies
  • Maintain all documents that make up a full certification package (mill test reports, heat treat certs, coating certs, test reports, etc.)
  • Organize and maintain all quality related records as needed
  • Maintain calibration status on all instruments and equipment used for production and for testing purposes
  • Perform random daily floor inspections in manufacturing departments to ensure product quality standards are met
  • Perform final inspections to ensure orders are correct prior to shipment
  • Follows quality processes, ISO facility internal procurement clauses and internal work instructions to review & interpret customer requirements and supplier quality documentation
  • Supports internal and external ISO audits to initiate discrepancy reports and hold notices
  • Interact with Quality Engineering or other functional groups for 8D problem solving

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience working in the Fastener industry is a plus.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and anything over requires help and/or handling equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand for periods of time, walk and reach with hands and arms.
